✅ MEDIATED TRANSPORT
✅ DEFINITION
👉 Mediated transport is the movement of substances across the membrane with the help of protein channels or carriers.
👉 Plasma membrane is a selectively permeable membrane made of phospholipids and proteins. Mediated transport is the movement of substances through this membrane with the help of proteins. It includes facilitated diffusion (no energy) and active transport (requires ATP).
🔹 WHY NEEDED?

Are large (glucose)
Are charged (ions)
Cannot pass through lipid layer
So, they need protein help
